Story of Anatolia

As you might know from the About Me page, Anatolia is my go-to dragon for racing. She's won me so many trophies, and has such victorious spirit that she is super prideful of herself (and rightly so). But she wasn't always like that. As a Sand Wraith, you'd expect her scales to be the colour of the sand so she can camouflage, right? But how unexpected is it to instead find that she has the colour of the night? As a result, she always stood out in her pack and was a bit of an introvert because of how different she is. The hiccup of the litter, you might call her. It was because of this that she had insecurities and doubts of herself from a young age. Why couldn't she be even remotely as a Sand Wraith should be? Why did she have to be the complete opposite instead? Such were her thoughts when she was just starting her life as a wee baby dragon.

But she's prideful now, so what happened? I saw her hidden potential and beauty from a mile away when I chose to adopt her. Her scales were such a beautiful colour, allowing her to instead hide in the dark than in the sand, and I found the irony beautiful. With lots of care and love, I've had the honour of raising her out of the shell that she used to protect herself with. Now a Titan and nearly at her full potential (she hasn't reached level 30 yet), she's the winner amongst all my dragons. She wins me races, placing first almost all the time, and I couldn't be more proud of how far she has come. As a result, her confidence has definitely been boosted too! She now knows how valuable and important she is, and holds herself high (though she can sometimes get very vain as well haha).

Anatolia was named after one of the Horae. In Greek mythology, the Horae were goddesses of seasons and time. Being a Sand Wraith, I initially wanted a name connecting to Summer in which case my option was Theros which is the Greek word for Summer. I didn't like the name so much, and later stumbled upon The Hours. They represent the times of the day and the name Anatolia stood out to me. Anatolia means sunrise and I felt it suited perfectly. Sand Wraiths are originally an orange colour and it fit perfectly with the name sunrise.

Name

Despite her name meaning sunrise, Anatolia is coloured a deep blue with orange spots and black spikes. Why is this so? Because rather than focusing on the major parts of the sunrise, I wanted to focus on the minor. While the sunrise is indeed about the sun as it comes up and brightens the world, it is simultaneously also about the darkness of the night that we are losing. So, Anatolia's main body is a deep blue and has black spikes to represent the dark of the night. The orange spots then symbolize the rising sun and peeking rays of sunshine that tear into the night, bringing brightness.
