As a Woolly Howl, I thought that he should have a name relating to winter, the cold, and any other synonyms of the sort. After a bit of research, I found out about the Anemoi. The Anemoi are wind gods of a certain direction and are also associated with seasons and weather conditions. One of them, is a Greek god of the North Wind and Winter. His name, Boreas. I thought it was perfect, very fitting for a dragon of the Woolly Howl species and I liked the name too. Boreas can be quite a mouthful, however, so I've lovingly nicknamed him Bub. It's cute (like him), and short (not so like him).
Name
Purple is a big aspect of Boreas the Titan Woolly Howl, and for good reason too. I wasn't sure what other colour I would have liked for him, but purple was a definite. Why? Not because it's my favourite colour, but because Boreas, the god of the cold north wind and bringer of winter, was said to have wings of purple or at least a purple cape. I like to not only match the names of my dragon with the dragon species but also match colours to the name if it can be done. And so, I knew I had to have purple in Boreas' wings. The rest? It was simply a game of what colours look good with purple. I knew about the hint of gradient and mixing of colours on the fur-like scales and wanted to match purple with a colour that would make the gradient look great. I ended up with a blue and the classic black which often goes with any colour.
