Ceyx
Ceyx, an OC Finger Griffin, drawn by LissaFish.

OP

This griffin is so tiny it can easily perch on one finger. They're friendly and inquisitive, and enjoy playing and cuddling. Their diet of nectar can easily be replicated with cane sugar and water or fruit juice. A few things to know before getting one: they are high maintenance. Due to their sugary diet these little guys are extremely hyper, and they can't be exposed to the cold.  But if you can handle the extra care, and are looking for a sweet tempered pet that you can sneak into class in your pocket, this is the griffin for you!

Story

Although her name is Ceyx, she looks nothing like the typical Ceyx birds you might find in nature. Instead, she is named after Ceyx of the Greek Mythology, son of Eosphorus the Morning Star and the King of Trachis in Thessaly. Ceyx of the Greek Mythology was killed by Zeus out in the sea and maybe that's why Ceyx loves being near water. Often her favourite past time will be flying down to the closest river or beach by our house to bathe and play in the water. It makes for the perfect past time on hot, sunny days with the sun glaring down harshly and only the water to help keep us cool. Ironically, despite Ceyx's love for rivers and seas, it was a river that had pushed her away from her territory and out into the unknown.

On a day when the tides were particularly harsher and the water level significantly high, Ceyx went out for her usual playtime by the river only to be trapped in a sudden increase in water level of the river. Perhaps a dam had broken a few miles up the stream, but nonetheless, the wave came upon her unexpectedly and gave her little to no time to leave the water for safety in a higher ground. The river was brutal as it washed down Ceyx and any other trees and branches in its path, down to the sea. And it was on the shore that I came upon this small creature who seemed to be washed up, drenched, with a few small cuts and bruises here and there. Concerned about the wellbeing of the little Finger Griffin, I took her home and bandaged her up. It took a few days for everything to heal up, but we bonded greatly in that time and I named her to be Ceyx.

She was also very apprehensive of my dragons at first but has quickly warmed up to them and if not playing by the water, she's flittering about my dragons, using her small size as an advantage when she wants to trick them. Her favourite victim is often Boreas, my Woolly Howl, because if anything, he is just as playful as she is. And on cold winter days, she'll be taking rest inside the house for once, not venturing outside but instead causing ruckus inside the household with her over-energetic self. And otherwise, cuddled up to Boreas.
